Microsoft enables normal mobile phones to use apps like Facebook

Microsoft has just revealed a new technology that will enable mobile phones, which are not smartphones, to use applications like Facebook and Twitter.
This software called Oneapp, which was created for the emergent markets, can be downloaded like a ring tone.
Oneapp will be fully customized by the provider, meaning that your provider will decide which application are included within the software, which, by the way, will be stored by the providers and not by the final user, this is nice concept that Microsoft uses as strategy for the future “Software as a Service”. With this approach Microsoft will overcome several issues like lack of memory.

Tim McDonough, Product Manager Director for Microsoft Mobile devices said that “This technology will enable that you will have access to any applications and services that you want from your actual mobile device. If your have a computer or share one, your mobile phone could be your one and only computing device”

Just in a few weeks, a provider from South Africa (Blue Label Telecom) will be the first provider using the Oneapp, offering applications for Facebook, Twitter e o Windows Live Messenger.
